Sec 3 E-Math Tuition in Singapore
Small Sec 3 E-Math classes at our Katong and Hougang centres, for students taking Math at G3 or G2. Sec 3 is the first year of the two-year syllabus the SEC examines: quadratics, indices, coordinate geometry, trigonometry and circle properties, each tested again in Sec 4. We teach every chapter in MOE's order, in the format your child's school tests use.

- 11
- Sec 3 E-Math chapters, all examined again in the SEC
- 2 h
- once a week, in a small class
- 3
- centres: Katong, Hougang Central, Opp Hougang CC
Who this class is for
- Sec 3 students taking E-Math at G3 or G2 who were fine in Sec 2 and have hit the first wall: quadratic equations by formula, indices, or (at G3) the sine and cosine rules.
- Sec 3 students taking both E-Math and A-Math, who need E-Math to stay solid while A-Math takes the attention. Our Double Math bundle covers both in separate classes.
- Sec 3 G2 students aiming to move up to G3, or to keep their options open for Sec 4 and the SEC.
- Sec 2 students moving into Sec 3 who want to start the year's first chapters before school does. Our 2027 Sec 3 classes begin in November 2026.
What Sec 3 E-Math covers
Sec 3 E-Math (SEAB 4052 for G3, 4045 for G2; from 2027 the same content under SEC codes K310 and K210) opens with algebra, then moves through coordinate geometry and graphs into trigonometry, mensuration and circle properties. Everything in Sec 3 is examined again in Sec 4, in the national exam. We teach the chapters in this order, which matches MOE's sequence and the order most schools test them in.
- Quadratic equations: completing the square, the formula, graphs
- Linear inequalities
- Indices and standard form
- Coordinate geometry
- Graphs of functions and their gradients
- Further trigonometry: the sine and cosine rules
- Applications of trigonometry: bearings and 3D problems
- Arc length, sector area and radians
- Congruence and similarity tests
- Area and volume of similar figures
- Geometrical properties of circles
| School test | Usually covers | Chapters |
|---|---|---|
| WA1 (Term 1) | Chapters 1 to 3 | Quadratic equations; linear inequalities; indices |
| WA2 (Term 2) | Chapters 4 to 6 | Coordinate geometry; graphs of functions; sine and cosine rules |
| WA3 (Term 3) | Chapters 7 to 9 | Bearings and 3D trigonometry; arcs, sectors and radians; congruence and similarity |
| End-of-Year exam | The whole year | Everything above, plus similar figures and circle properties |
Schools set their own Weighted Assessments (WAs). The grouping above is how we prepare for them and matches the order most schools follow; check your child's school assessment plan for exact dates and weightings.
G3 or G2 in Sec 3?
G2 E-Math shares most chapters with G3, but tests the sine and cosine rules, bearings, 3D problems, radians and circle properties only in an optional section of the national paper, and leaves out sets, matrices and vectors. G3 sets them all in compulsory questions. The full comparison is in our parent guide to G2 Math under Full SBB.
How we teach Sec 3 E-Math
Sec 3 E-Math is where the questions stop being one chapter each. A bearings question needs the sine rule; a circle question needs similar triangles; a graph question needs the quadratic from Term 1. So we teach each chapter to the national-exam standard the first time, and we keep the earlier chapters alive with mixed practice, because the SEC paper in Sec 4 will mix them.
- 1
The concept is introduced visually
Every new method is taught on the screen, step by step, with the diagram drawn in front of the student, so they see why it works before practising it.
- 2
Students craft their own notes
Each student writes the method in their own words and style. Notes they wrote themselves are notes they will actually use in a test.
- 3
Foundations through basic practice
Routine questions first, until the method is automatic. Only then do we stack the harder variations school papers use.
- 4
Independent practice with guidance
Students work through questions in the format of their school's Weighted Assessments and the national paper, with the tutor stepping in where marks are being lost.
Also included
- Small physical classes of two hours, once a week, at Katong, Hougang Central or Opp Hougang CC.
- Our own notes, worksheets and practice questions in the format of school Weighted Assessments and the national paper.
- Personalised exam cheatsheets before each WA and the End-of-Year exam.
- Help outside class: students can message their tutor with homework questions.
- We follow MOE's order of topics. When a school teaches in a different order, we coach the extra topics in class before the test.
Sec 3 and the SEC: what the level means from here
From 2027, Sec 4 students sit the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) instead of the O-Level and N-Level. Each subject is examined at the level it is taken, G3 or G2, and the level matters afterwards: JC admission from 2028 needs G3 Math or G3 A-Math at D7 or better, and every subject counted for JC must be G3.
A G2 student can still be moved up to G3 by the school, on school results and the school's judgement. By Sec 3 the gap is real: G3 sets circle properties, bearings and the sine and cosine rules in compulsory questions, and adds sets, matrices and vectors in Sec 4.
What we see in class
For a Sec 3 student aiming at G3, we teach the compulsory G3 topics alongside the school's G2 pace, so a move up does not start with a backlog. For every Sec 3 student, the first two Weighted Assessments decide the year's confidence, and we aim for them from the first lesson.
Planning a move up? WhatsApp us and we will tell you which topics to catch up on first.
The rules on starting levels and moving up are explained in our parent guide to G2 Math under Full SBB.

Where the classes are
Sec 3 E-Math classes run at all three centres, on weekday afternoons and evenings and at weekends. Tell us your child's level and school on WhatsApp and we will place them at the centre and time that fits.
Hours: Monday to Friday 3:00pm to 9:30pm · Saturday and Sunday 9:00am to 6:00pm. WhatsApp 8042 6428 for the current Sec 3 E-Math timetable at each centre, or see the class schedule.
Starting Sec 3 in 2027? Lessons begin in November 2026
Our 2027 academic year starts in November 2026, after the school End-of-Year exams. It is the regular weekly Sec 3 E-Math class at the usual fee, not a separate programme.
We use November and December for indices and graphs of functions, two chapters every later one leans on, so Term 1 starts ahead rather than behind.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between E-Math and A-Math in Sec 3?
E-Math (Elementary Mathematics) is the compulsory Math subject every Sec 3 student takes. A-Math (Additional Mathematics) is a second, harder Math subject that schools offer to students who did well in Sec 2. E-Math is taken at G1, G2 or G3; A-Math at G2 or G3. Our parent guide explains A-Math in full.
Why does Sec 3 E-Math feel harder than Sec 2?
Because the chapters start to combine. A bearings question needs the sine rule; a circle question needs similar triangles. The national exam in Sec 4 mixes chapters in one question, and school papers in Sec 3 start doing the same. We keep earlier chapters alive with mixed practice for that reason.
Is my child in a G3 class or a G2 class?
We take Sec 3 E-Math students at G3 and G2. Tell us the level on WhatsApp and we will place your child. Students taking Math at G1 join our G1 Math class.
Which exam will my child sit?
Sec 3 students in 2026 are the first cohort to sit the SEC, in 2027, which replaces the O-Level and N-Level. SEAB says the format and the overall standard do not change. G3 E-Math is two papers of 2 hours 15 minutes and 90 marks; G2 E-Math is two papers of 2 hours and 70 marks.
Can my child still move from G2 to G3 in Sec 3?
Schools can move a student up on school results and the school's judgement, though most moves happen in Sec 1 and Sec 2. The gap is larger by Sec 3, so we teach the compulsory G3 topics to a G2 student who is aiming to move.
Does my child need to take both E-Math and A-Math with you?
No. Your child can take only E-Math with us. If they take both, the Double Math bundle covers two separate classes, one for each subject, at $70 a lesson for families enrolled by 31 December 2026 ($75 for new families from 1 January 2027).
Do you follow my child's school's order of topics?
Our syllabus follows MOE's order. Where a school teaches in a different order, we provide supplementary coaching in class as the test approaches.
How do I start?
