Sec 4 E-Math Tuition in Singapore

Small Sec 4 E-Math classes at our Katong and Hougang centres, for students taking Math at G3 or G2. Sec 4 adds five chapters by mid-year, then turns to the whole two-year syllabus for the national exam: the O-Level and N-Level in 2026, and the SEC from 2027. We teach the new chapters in MOE's order and revise by question type, the way the paper tests them.

Who this class is for

  • Sec 4 students taking E-Math at G3 or G2 whose Sec 3 results were not what they wanted, with one year to turn it round before the national exam.
  • Sec 4 students who are fine chapter by chapter but lose marks when the paper mixes chapters in one question, which is what the national paper does from Question 1.
  • Sec 4 students taking both E-Math and A-Math, who need E-Math kept solid while A-Math takes the attention. The Double Math bundle covers both in separate classes.
  • Sec 3 students moving into Sec 4 who want the new chapters done before school does. Our 2027 Sec 4 classes begin in November 2026.

What Sec 4 E-Math covers

Sec 4 E-Math (SEAB 4052 for G3, 4045 for G2; from 2027 the same content under SEC codes K310 and K210) adds five chapters in the first half of the year, then spends the rest of the year revising the whole Sec 3 and Sec 4 syllabus for the national exam. G2 E-Math does not take sets, matrices or vectors, and tests circle properties, bearings and the sine and cosine rules only in an optional section of the paper.

  • Set notation and Venn diagrams
  • Probability of combined events
  • Statistics: cumulative frequency, box plots, standard deviation
  • Matrices
  • Vectors
  • Revision: quadratics, indices and algebra
  • Revision: coordinate geometry and graphs of functions
  • Revision: trigonometry, bearings and 3D problems
  • Revision: arcs, sectors, similar figures and circle properties
  • Revision: mensuration and the real-world question

The SEC format from SEAB's 2027 syllabuses (G3 Mathematics K310, G2 Mathematics K210). SEAB says the mode of assessment and overall standard are the same as the O-Level and N(A)-Level papers they replace.

O-Level in 2026, SEC from 2027

Sec 4 students in 2026 sit the last O-Level papers in October and November (the last N-Level papers were sat in September and October). From 2027, Sec 4 students sit the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate, with each subject at the level it was taken. What changes is the certificate and the admission rules after it, not the papers. Our guide to the SEC exam explains the grades and L1R4 for JC.

How we teach Sec 4 E-Math

By Sec 4, most students know the chapters. What they lose marks on is the question that joins two of them, the working the marker wants to see, and the time. So after the new chapters, we revise by question type rather than by chapter: every type the national paper sets, with the working laid out the way the mark scheme pays for it, and timed practice as the exam gets close.

  1. 1

The new chapters, in MOE's order

Sets, probability, statistics, matrices and vectors are taught on the screen step by step, with the diagram in front of the student, before any practice.

  2. 2

    Revision by question type

From mid-year, we work through every question type the national paper sets, one type at a time, so nothing in Paper 1 or Paper 2 is a surprise.

  3. 3

Working the way the marker pays for it

Students learn where each mark is earned and write the line that earns it, which is where most lost marks come from.

  4. 4

    Past papers under time

In the last term, full papers under exam conditions, marked line by line, with a short list of what to fix before the next one.

Also included

  • Small physical classes of two hours, once a week, at Katong, Hougang Central or Opp Hougang CC.
  • Our own notes for the new chapters and a revision pack covering every question type in the national paper.
  • Personalised exam cheatsheets before each WA, the Prelim and the national exam.
  • Help outside class: students can message their tutor with homework questions.
  • Our suggested answers to the national papers, published within 24 hours of each paper.

After Sec 4: what the E-Math grade is for

The E-Math grade is in every route after Sec 4. For JC from the 2028 admissions, the requirement is G3 Math or G3 A-Math at D7 or better, and every subject counted in the L1R4 aggregate must be G3. For poly, courses list the Math requirement as Math or A-Math, and the first four ELR2B2 subjects count at G3. For the Polytechnic Foundation Programme and ITE's Higher Nitec, the ELMAB3 aggregate always includes Math.

A G2 student's E-Math counts at its G2 grade for the poly's last subject and for ELMAB3. It cannot count for JC.

What we see in class

Our aim for a Sec 4 G3 student is the grade that keeps every door open, and for a G2 student the grade that keeps the ELMAB3 and ELR2B2 aggregates low. Both come from the same thing: no lost marks on question types the student has already seen.

Starting Sec 4 in 2027? Lessons begin in November 2026

Our 2027 academic year starts in November 2026, after the school End-of-Year exams. It is the regular weekly Sec 4 E-Math class at the usual fee, not a separate programme.

We use November for the lower-secondary topics the Sec 4 paper leans on, and December for the first new chapter: vectors for G3, graphs of functions for G2. Term 1 then starts ahead rather than behind. The 2027 Sec 4 cohort is the first to sit the SEC.

Frequently asked questions

Which exam will my child sit?

Sec 4 students in 2026 sit the last O-Level (G3) papers in October and November 2026; the last N-Level (G2) papers were sat in September and October. From 2027, Sec 4 students sit the SEC, with each subject examined at the level it was taken. SEAB says the format and overall standard do not change.

Is it too late to start tuition in Sec 4?

No. Most of the Sec 4 year is revision, and revision is where a small class helps most: we find the question types a student loses marks on and fix those first. The earlier in the year, the more types we can cover, but a student joining mid-year still has the Prelim and the national exam ahead.

Is my child in a G3 class or a G2 class?

We take Sec 4 E-Math students at G3 and G2. Tell us the level on WhatsApp and we will place your child. The G2 syllabus leaves out sets, matrices and vectors and keeps some topics for an optional section, so a G2 student's revision is planned around the G2 paper. Students taking Math at G1 join our G1 Math class.

Does the E-Math grade matter for JC?

Yes. From the 2028 admissions, JC needs G3 Math or G3 A-Math at D7 or better, and every subject counted in the L1R4 aggregate must be taken at G3. A G2 E-Math grade cannot count for JC. Our SEC guide and L1R4 calculator explain the rules.

Do you do past-year papers?

Yes, in the last term, under time, marked line by line. Before that, we revise by question type, which is faster: a student who has seen every type the paper sets is not surprised by a full paper.

Do you also teach Sec 5?

Yes. Sec 5 students taking Math at G3 sit the same papers as the Sec 4 G3 cohort and join our Sec 4 E-Math and A-Math classes.

Do you follow my child's school's order of topics?

Our syllabus follows MOE's order. Where a school teaches in a different order, we provide supplementary coaching in class as the test approaches.

How do I start?

WhatsApp us at 8042 6428 with your child's level, school and latest Math result. Trials are paid lessons by appointment at Katong, Hougang Central or Opp Hougang CC, and come with a written Post Trial Analysis & Feedback.
